Hello, and welcome to part two of our music history birthdays bonus post! This time around, we’re celebrating the births of musical polymath, Damon Albarn, and one of modern rock’s most talented vocalists, Chester Bennington.

This coming Sunday (23rd March) marks the 57th birthday of Blur frontman and Gorillaz co-creator, Damon Albarn.

Included on Pitchfork’s list of ‘The 200 Most Important Artists of Pitchfork’s First 25 Years’, Albarn has a career spanning three decades. Alongside his fellow Blur band members, Albarn was at the forefront of Britpop and, with Gorillaz, broke new ground across all genres.

Blur was formed in 1988, originally under the name of Seymour. Its members were Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree. The year of 1990 saw the newly named Blur sign with Food Records, tour Britain as support for the Cramps, and release their debut single, ‘She’s So High’. 1991 brought Blur their first top ten single, ‘There’s No Other Way’.
