Friday 5th September 2025 marks what would have been Freddie Mercury’s 79th birthday.

One of the greatest singers in rock history, a charismatic and commanding frontman, and a hugely talented songwriter, Freddie Mercury, along with his fellow Queen band members, is responsible for some of the greatest stadium anthems in music.

With that in mind, and to celebrate 79 years since his birth, I’ve put together some quotes from Mercury himself as well as a few from Brian May and Roger Taylor on Queen’s hugely versatile back catalogue, not forgetting Mercury’s two sans-Queen ventures, Mr Bad Guy (1985) and Barcelona with Montserrat Caballé (1988).

Enjoy!
