This coming week in music history marks the 30th anniversary of Supergrass’ debut album and 59 years since The Beach Boys released Pet Sounds, so we’ll be taking a deep-dive into both of those fascinating stories.

There are also some birthdays to celebrate…

Stevie Wonder (13th May 1950)

‘Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn’t mean he lacks vision.’

Alison Goldfrapp (13th May 1966)

‘The two have to go hand in hand - the atmosphere and the music. I actually get rather worried if I can’t see the music first. There always needs to be a mood, a feeling, a story, even if it is abstract. There’s got to be a narrative to guide things before they’re even created.’

Enya (17th May 1961)

‘There is no formula to it. Writing every song is a little journey. The first note has to lift you.’
